The New Mexico Community Roots Foundation is creating a shared outdoor learning space in the South Valley of Albuquerque designed to give youth and families access to meaningful agricultural and nature-based experiences.

Many children in urban communities do not have the space or resources to raise animals, grow food, or learn outdoors. We are building a place where those barriers are removed and where youth can learn by doing, connect with the land, and develop skills that support wellness, responsibility, and environmental stewardship.

What we’re building goes beyond physical structures. This space is designed to grow through youth leadership, volunteer involvement, and community partnerships. Youth will play an active role in caring for animals, maintaining the garden, and learning skills that build confidence and responsibility.

Our long-term vision is to create a welcoming, accessible place where learning, culture, and the outdoors come together and where young people can build lifelong connections to the land and their community.
